Cory Smith, the editor of Pack Pride, joined Adam to preview NC State's home opener against No. 10 Notre Dame at noon tomorrow. Cory discussed how he views the match-up playing out, and what are the important factors for the Wolfpack. Cory also shared his view on UNC wide receiver Tez Walker's situation.

Luke DeCock, News & Observer joined Adam to discuss the matter of Tez Walker being denied eligibility by the NCAA for this season. Luke believes there are appeal and waiver processes in place for a situation similar to Walker's. He also shared if he's buying into North Carolina after their win against South Carolina.

John Breech, CBS Sports joined Adam to recap the Detroit Lions' 21-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. He shares what the game told us about both teams as we look ahead into the season. He also discussed how he views the NFC South playing out this year.

Michael Rothstein, Atlanta Falcons ESPN Reporter joined Adam to preview the divisional matchup between the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday. Michael provides insight from the Falcons' perspective and shares key players to watch for on the roster. He also discussed how the Panthers shouldn't be counted out from winning the NFC South. 

Lamarr Mitchell, MGM Resorts, joined Adam to discuss how much the news of Travis Kelce potentially being out against the Lions, impacted the line for the game tonight. He explained if it's unusual for a two-point swing to occur when a player other than a quarterback possibly being out. He also discussed if there was anything better for the sportsbooks this off-season than Aaron Rodgers ending up with the Jets.

Danny Kanell, former Florida State football player, now a member of CBS Sports joined Adam to discuss the expectations of the league after a successful showing in week one. He feels that the conference has been criticized for its lack of talented teams, but in two nationally televised games, Florida State and UNC represented well. Now, it's up to the other schools to do their part.

Grace Raynor, The Athletic, covered Clemson for a long time and joined Adam to discuss if we should be making more out of Clemson's loss to Duke than we are. She explained how this Clemson Tigers team needs to come out in the first game of the season and score some style points after the offense has struggled in past seasons. She also discussed how we need to see more out of quarterback Cade Klubnik. Also, Preseason All-ACC wide receiver Tez Walker met with a virtual committee from the NCAA today in hopes of being granted immediate eligibility for this season. North Carolina welcomes App State this Saturday in their home opener at Kenan Memorial Stadium, and NC State welcomes Notre Dame in their home opener as well at Carter-Finley Stadium. Adam also discussed some of the other games taking place this weekend around the state

Since the opening night of the NFL takes place tonight, Adam is joined by Will Brinson, Senior NFL writer for CBS Sports, Pick 6 Podcast, to preview the Detroit Lions vs. Kansas City Chiefs. Since Travis Kelce will most likely be ruled out after hyperextending his knee, how does this affect Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense? Will also shares his thoughts on the Brian Burns contract situation with the Carolina Panthers. 

With 90 wins and 40 losses overall for the season, the Atlanta Braves find themselves on the verge of clinching a playoff spot by Friday. With a talented lineup and a strong bullpen, the Braves are certainly contenders for this postseason. Chip Patterson, CBS Sports, and Cover 3 Podcast joined Adam to review some of the big wins for ACC schools this past weekend. He shared what jumped out to him about North Carolina's win over South Carolina, how dominant Flordia State looked against LSU, and does Duke deserves all the credit or is Clemson down this year. They also look to this weekend's matchup between Notre Dame vs. NC State, and App State vs. UNC.

It's a busy time for the Carolina Panthers organization as we are on Brian Burns watch before the Panthers' first game this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. Darin Gantt, Panthers.com, joined Adam to discuss where we stand currently in the Burns contract extension negotiation. He also shared if he thinks Burns will play Sunday if both parties are close to reaching a deal. 

Preseason All-ACC wide receiver Tez Walker is still waiting to hear if he will be eligible to play for North Carolina in 2023. Walker plans to meet with a virtual committee from the NCAA tomorrow where he hopes to be granted immediate eligibility for this season. Greg Barnes, Inside Carolina joined Adam to break down the eligibility case and the process of the NCAA.

Dave Harding, Duke Radio Analyst, recapping the dominate win Duke had at WWS vs Clemson. Dave anticipated Duke being good this year, but did Duke play better against Clemson than he initially thought they’d be? Even with earlier mistakes, Duke was able to come back in the second half and change the game entirely. What did Dave think was most impressive watching this Duke team? How impactful was Riley Leonard, not just with the pivotal touchdown, but the game as a whole? At what point does Dave believe the game completely changed? Did Dave think Clemson looked like they have an offense that’s good enough to challenge teams to a National title? Why or why not? He shared with Adam what the experience has been like, and what it's like to have his brother Maxwell, who transferred from the University of Georgia playing alongside him.

Baltimore Orioles owner, John Angelos recently stated in an interview that he didn't know if the franchise would be able to keep all its young talent without raising stadium prices. Elliot Johnson, a former MLB player joined Adam to discuss why so many owners are hesitant on paying players, rather than trying to improve their franchises. He also addressed the chances of the Orioles representing the American League in the World Series this season.

He discussed the ongoing situation regarding conference realignment and the ongoing discussion over these past two years. Also, he offers perspective on the changes in conferences throughout the years since he played at Duke.

Does the conference get at least as much of a deal with Notre Dame as the fighting Irish do? At what point does it just make more sense to keep the conferences the way they are vs scrambling them all up and then dividing them? Florida State University’s board of trustees met and threw what amounts to a 5-year old temper tantrum about how the ACC will drastically change their revenue distribution model or else…. Or else, what?   Where are you going?  How much are you willing to pay to get there?   Drew Weatherford, a totally underwhelming QB at Florida State some 20 years ago is now a BOT member and said the following…   "It’s not a matter of if we leave, in my opinion. It’s a matter of how and when we leave."   Another BOT member wants an exit plan by 2025….. Let’s add it up, folks.  $120m on exit….then every year you’re not here of the ACC TV deal, this league….our league….the one where we “only” distribute, like $35 million per year to each school….but this league would get your tv cash…   FSU can save the ACC, all by themselves.  That number is going to start at around $500 million…. Jim Phillips would take that through the drive thru personally. So there’s that story…..and less than a week after the new Big Ten commissioner Tony Pettiti said his league wasn’t at all interested in expanding….that the only thing on their agenda was making it a smooth transition for USC and UCLA to make the switch next year….we hear that the B1G is absolutely looking at adding as many as four more schools from the west and growing to possibly 20 teams.     Nothing says higher education quite like 20 teams in a league titled the Big Ten…. We have spent a great deal of mental energy worrying about players getting paid while they’re in college.   It will destroy the game It’s unfair to the players who don’t Can’t be used as a recruiting inducement   Looks to me like it’s the power brokers in the sport that need the guardrails.  No one ever seems to think about all of the damage that has been done all because of money.   

Bubba Cunningham, Director of Athletics at UNC, joins the Adam Gold show to touch on the biggest topics circulating college sports these days and how things have evolved over his 12 years there. Would you rather be the chairman of basketball or football? The Big Ten was only in two time zones when Bubba started, now they’ll be in three. Students couldn’t earn a dime and now they’re able to make millions. What happened? What’s been the biggest challenge, in Bubba’s opinion, on how things have been progressing? Adam asks whether Bubba thinks college sports is focusing too much on money now or is it going in the right direction? Where does Bubba stand on the future of the ACC? How does Bubba feel about FSU and their comments about leaving the ACC because of money? Can an ACC exist without UNC in it..? Adam has his opinion on how the revenue gap can be closed, so he asks if Bubba agrees and thinks it’s a fair assumption or where might he see it being different? Maybe 5 years ago, this wasn’t a big deal…but why does it matter what my neighbor makes (referring to the ACC and Big 10 money)? Drake Maye is on the cover of College Football 2023. What is the responsibility of the school to maximize, not on the school’s image, but the player’s as well?

As a former college athlete, how does Manuel feel about NIL and the progression of paying athletes? Manuel also discussed which schools he anticipates to make big waves this season in the conference, behind-the-scenes stories from his life, and his current position with the ACC Network.

Dave Doeren, NC State's head football coach, joined Adam Gold during the final day of the ACC Football Kickoff to discuss his team's upcoming season and new quarterback Brennan Armstrong. He shared what he's looking forward to in his team's offense this season under new offensive coordinator Robert Anae. He also discussed if the narrative has changed in college football that defense wins games and shared that he's ready to not play in a division this season.  Also, NC State quarterback Brennan Armstrong also joined Adam to share his thoughts on his new program and teammates. He shared how tough it was for him to deal with all the changes during his time at Virginia and what sparked his initial interest in transferring to NC State. Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney joined Adam on the final day of the 2023 ACC Football Kickoff. He shared his thoughts on the upcoming 2023 college football season, quarterback Cade Klubnik as a first-year starter, the perception of ACC football nationally, the economics of college football with Name, Image & Likeness deals for players, how NIL impacts recruiting, the transfer portal, and revenue generation.

Jacob Monk, returning starter at Center and team captain of the Duke Blue Devils football team joined Adam live in Charlotte from the 2023 ACC Football Kickoff to discuss what to expect out from the team this upcoming season. He also shared the best things about his quarterback Riley Leonard both as a player and as a person. Also, he describes why fans should take Duke football as a program seriously this year.  Mike Elko is entering his second season as Duke football head coach. The team finished 9-4 overall overall last season and 5-3 in ACC play. Coach Elko shares with Adam how they look to build upon the success of last season and their strength of schedule for this season. It all begins on September 4th when his Blue Devils welcome the Clemson Tigers to Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham. 

Chip Patterson joined Adam live in Charlotte from the 2023 ACC Football Kickoff. They discuss who has the potential to be the second-best overall quarterback in the ACC. They also discuss North Carolina's struggles in the past when it comes to playing in the primetime games, and how NC State's offense will look under the new offensive coordinator Robert Anae. 

Tripp Tracy, Carolina Hurricanes Analyst joined Adam to discuss the signing of Sebastian Aho to an eight-year contract extension worth $78 million. They discuss the terms of the deal, what it means for the Hurricanes' future, and what fans can expect from Aho in the years to come. Also, they discuss if this means Aho will become the captain of the team in the near future.   

The Adam Gold show continues live in Charlotte for day two of the 2023 ACC Football Kickoff. ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips spoke with Adam Gold earlier in the day and discussed various topics from his keynote address from yesterday. Phillips discussed the future of the conference, the challenges facing college athletics, and what he's doing to address them.

Yesterday it was announced that the Carolina Hurricanes have signed defenseman Tony DeAngelo to a one-year deal, bringing him back to the roster for a second time in three seasons. The deal will pay the 27-year-old player $1,675 million. He joined Adam to discuss how the process of signing with the Hurricanes happened, and what is it about the franchise that ultimately led him back. 

Eric Mac Lain joined Adam Gold for day one of the 2023 ACC Kickoff to discuss the upcoming ACC football season. As someone who played for the Clemson Tigers, he previews their season and evaluates where the team is at as a whole. What has the NCAA had ZERO luck in doing over the last few years? -A week ago, the NCAA sent a memo to its member schools warning that regardless of what State laws said, the governing body’s rules would take precedent. -This has already gone terribly wrong for the schools and the NCAA.  Not sure why digging in their heels is the strategy. -Congress is NOT going to pass a law to bail them out. -32 states have NIL laws that are, in most cases, designed to provide a bit of an edge…  -Again, this advice comes free of charge….you need ZERO laws to govern this.  No restrictions.  No guardrails.  This is the world in which we all now live, so learn to live in it.

Staal, 34, was set to become an unrestricted free agent Saturday.   Dundon said (on this show I believe) that it was a certainty they would be keeping him -Now we need to go get another Staal   Tony DeAngelo back? Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports that it is likely because of some hesitation from the NHL, over potential cap circumvention. DeAngelo was meant to go to Carolina with the Flyers retaining some salary, but since he was traded from the Hurricanes less than a year ago, it raised some red flags. As LeBrun explains, this isn’t exactly a regular situation. The Hurricanes traded him as an RFA, meaning they didn’t sign this contract, and Daniel Briere, the Flyers’ GM, wasn’t in place yet when Philadelphia inked this deal. There’s no real circumvention here, just a player that has worn out his welcome and a team looking to create cap space. The league is expected to meet with both teams in Nashville this week for the draft, where they will have to decide. Mack Brown met the media today…. -Negative recruiting against UNC and he said that many of the coaches who said he was going to quit got fired, so maybe they should have been worrying about their own teams…. -Drake Maye is the jewel. -Still hate the schedule? -Future of College Football?   Nick Saban is relitigating the 2022 season….and that’s always productive… Are we really getting the best teams into the playoff? His basis is that he read that Vegas would have had Alabama as the favorite over 3 of the other 4 teams – obviously, Georgia would have been favored (OSU, MICH, TCU). But, maybe this is too basic and it doesn’t need mentioning, but not only doesn’t the betting favorite matter, but the results of the games matter the most. FACT: Alabama lost twice IN THE DIVISION (Tennessee and LSU). When we get to 12 team playoff, what will be the excuse?   The NBA draft is on Thursday and the Charlotte Hornets have the 2nd overall pick…. We know Victor Wembenyama is going to be the first pick and headed to San Antonio. Now the Hornets come in and there are three ways you can go…. Scoot Henderson, a slashing point guard with a suspect perimeter shot who played for G-League Ignite. Brandon Miller, a 6-9 wing from Alabama with a great outside shot. A trade?  Could it be Zion Williamson?   I think the move depends on what you think of LaMelo Ball.   Michael Jordan sold most of his ownership stake in the Hornets and in 13 years he turned a $275 million investment into a $3 billion sale price.   But, for someone who is wildly considered the best player in the history of the sport, how do you figure that he just wasn’t able to get off the ground as an owner. This isn’t coaching?  This is owning?  Running the team?   There are 4 players that might end up on the move this week or this summer… Draymond Green opted out  Bradley Beal was traded for Chris Paul, who has now been dealt 5 times in a hall of fame career.  Two of the last three times he was essentially dumped (HOU to OKC for Russ, and this latest one). Damian Lillard and Kyrie Irving are also going to be in a news a lot this summer. Dame is probably going to get traded and Kyrie is headed for UFA   There is a warming hot stove for the Carolina Hurricanes as we head towards next week’s NHL draft…. Goalies? Pesce? Aho contract? Staal/Fast?

Not sure this won’t be remembered as much for the fact that on a course where there were plenty of birdies to be had, that McIlroy birdied his first and that was it.   McIlory had 7 birdies in his 2nd round on Friday and just 4 over the weekend combined.   Last week, the fact that the US dominated Mexico in the SF of the CONCACAF Nations League, 3-0, was rendered a footnote with the news that US Soccer had inexplicably re-hired Gregg Berhalter to manage the squad through the 2026 World Cup. Last night, in their second straight performance for interim-interim manager B-J Calaghan, they outclassed Canada, 2-0, to claim their 2nd straight title in the competition. Gold Cup starts saturday at home vs Jamaica.  As many as six matched in 3 weeks. Maybe US Soccer should retain Calaghan? What a show from Folarin Balogun and Gio Reyna, and Chris Richards and Joe Scally and Christian Pulisic, and Tim Weah… The US squad is building depth and confidence and they are scary young…. Remember that they did this without Tyler Adams (injury) and both Weston McKennie and Sergino Dest (red cards)...   Huge trade in the NBA about to go down in advance of the upcoming Draft on Thursday…. Bradley Beal, one of the top scoring guards in the NBA is headed from Washington to Phoenix for a package that includes Chris Paul, Landry Shamet a bunch of 2nd round picks and multiple pick swaps. Deal might stay on hold for the possibility of expanding the deal to another team.  Not only for the Wizards to receive more than THIS, but to also find CP3 a better landing spot. Lakers?  Clippers?  Heat?

Michael Jordan is selling the Hornets after being the majority owner of the franchise for the last 13 years…. -JCole -Eric Church -Jordan bought majority stake for $275m and will sell for $3B…   Ja Morant will be suspended for 25 games for a second gun-related offense…. Ja Morant's decision to once again wield a firearm on social media is alarming and disconcerting given his similar conduct in March for which he was already suspended eight games," NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement. "The potential for other young people to emulate Ja's conduct is particularly concerning. The Denver Nuggets took a 2-1 series lead in the NBA Finals as they defeated the Miami Heat 109-94 in Gane 3. ‘Nata Edwards of the Eyes on College Basketball Podcast joined Adam to discuss if this series is now over, or if the Heat can get back into it. He also listed teams that could use the veteran presence of Chris Paul.   

Yesterday it was announced that Lionel Messi has intentions to join Inter Miami in MLS. One of the individuals who’s the most excited about this news is Chris Wittyngham, Inter Miami commentator. He describes the excitement within the club regarding the news and what we can expect with Messi joining the roster.

As The Soccer Tournament continues at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, Austin Da Luz joins Hayes Permar again to provide an update on the event from yesterday. Austin shares how it felt to be playing again and what his recovery process what like following the match. He also describes playing the match with the adjusted rules set in place for the tournament. 

The first-ever NBA Finals game in Denver occurred night as the Nuggets defeated the Heat 104-93. The Nuggets secured their first NBA Finals win in franchise history and took a 1-0 series lead. The Nuggets seemed to have complete control of the game as Nikola Jokic's led the way with 27-points and secured his ninth postseason triple-double.

Brian Geisinger of 247 Sports previews the NBA Finals as they begin tonight and what the Miami Heat need to do to stop Nikola Jokic. He shares the small things the Heat need to look out for in possessions and how they mix things up on defense. Also, how much of an impact can former NC State basketball player Omer Yurtseven have in this series?   

Avid NC State fan Josh Goodson joins Hayes Permar to share the connections in this year’s NBA Finals to NC State’s basketball program. He also gives his prediction for the NC State baseball team's NCAA regional game against Campbell, and North Carolina’s drawing in the tournament.  

Austin Da Luz, former Carolina Railhawks and North Carolina FC player joined Hayes Permar on the pitch as he was warming up for his team’s first game in the Soccer Tournament taking place in Cary. Austin shares how much training went into this event and how the game itself is different from a regular soccer match.   

This past weekend, NASCAR racing returned at North Wilkesboro Speedway something that a lot of fans here in North Carolina didn’t expect to happen. Jeremy Markovich of NC Rabbit Hold covered the All-Star race and shared his experience of the event with Hayes Permar. He discussed how the track almost had a Cameron Indoor Stadium effect due to you being so close to the action and making it more intimate.   

Game 1 of the NBA Finals begins tonight between the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets. Hayes Permar believes that the Nuggets will win the series easily due to Nikola Jokic being too much of a problem for the Heat to defend. Carolina Hurricanes General Manager Don Waddell joined Adam to share his final comments on this past season. He discussed what he enjoyed watching the most out of this team and what he expects of his roster for next year. He also shared which players he wants to see take their game to another level and which players he wants to make a priority to re-sign.   

NC State Baseball Head Coach Elliot Avent joined Adam to discuss how this season has been a “trying” year for his program, but they’re where they're supposed to be. He shares what the team had to go through to get here and how they’re excited for the opportunity to face Campbell this Friday in the South Carolina regional. He also gives praise to the state of North Carolina for having the most teams in the NCAA tournament this year.   

The Miami Heat were able to defeat the Boston Celtics 103-84 in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals last night. Jay Williams of ESPN joined Adam to discuss what the Heat did well in their dominant win and what the Celtics need to improve on this off-season. He also previews the NBA Finals matchup now between the Heat and the Denver Nuggets.   

Duke Baseball Head Coach Chris Pollard joined Adam to preview the Blue Devils' first game against UNCW in the Conway Regional this Friday. He shares how he felt his team was in a position to host a regional at one point this season, but how he’s glad travel won’t play too much of a factor. He also discusses the strength of his bullpen this season and what he feels the foundation of Duke baseball has been built on.  

Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour joined Adam to share his final comments on this past season. He discussed what he enjoyed watching the most out of this team and what he expects of his roster for next year. He also shared which players he wants to see take their game to another level.

A number of teams will be representing the state of North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament playing in their respective regionals, but which team should we keep our eye on? Aaron Fitt on D1 Baseball.com joined Adam to preview each team's matchup in their regionals and who he likes the most. He also shares how Campbell not hosting is a motivation factor as they prepare to face NC State on Friday, 

Elliott Cadeua, a point guard from West Orange, New Jersey, is a five-star recruit and top five-ten level player. He has reclassified from 2024 to 2023 and will be in Chapel Hill this summer and ready to play in November. Branden Marks of The Athletic joins Adam to discuss what this means for the UNC basketball program as a whole.

Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal and The Athletic joins Adam to discuss the Carolina Hurricanes' free agency situation and who they should make a priority to return. He shares moments in the series that may have made a difference for the Hurricanes against the Panthers. Also, how important would Seth Jarvis's return next season impact the team along with Martin Necas?    

Luke DeCock of the News & Observer joins Adam from the Carolina Hurricanes' end-of-the-season media availability. He shares what he thought was the biggest reason the Hurricanes lost the series to the Florida Panthers. He also provides examples of times when the Hurricanes needed to be tougher against the Panthers and if they had enough to win it if they were healthy.   

Carolina Hurricane Center Sebastian Aho joined Adam to reflect on this past season and what he's proud of the most. He compares the ending of this season to last season and can point to one thing that made the difference in the Eastern Conference Final. He also shares what he plans to do this off-season and improve as a player. 

Brian Murphy, WRAL Sports Investigative Reporter provides an update on the process of the NC online sports gambling bill. The Senate is still making adjustments to the bill, but it’s expected to pass and move forward to the House of Representatives. Brian also shares how the bill will profit North Carolina athletic programs that aren’t a part of power five conferences and horse racing has been included.   

Shane Willis of Bally Sports joins Adam from PNC Arena, where the Carolina Hurricanes are holding their exit interviews today. Captain Jordan Staal has already told the media that he has aspirations of finishing his career in Carolina. Shane also rates which players had the best season this past year.

Brian Geisinger of 247Sports joins Adam to discuss which player out of Duke’s draft class he’s high on when it comes to being selected first. He provides an update on NC State’s Terquaivon Smith and the showing he had at this year’s NBA Combine. Also, he shares what makes out of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals as the Celtics have forced a Game 6 against the Miami Heat.  

We continue to review the Eastern Conference Final series, but where exactly did things go wrong for the Carolina Hurricanes? Yes, losing Svechnikov and Pacioretty prior to the playoffs hurt, but all four games were still for the taken for the Hurricanes. The Carolina Hurricanes season came to an end last night following the 3-2 loss to the Florida Panthers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final. The Hurricanes were able to tie the game late, but thanks to Matthew Tkachuk, who scored his fourth goal of the series with 4.9 seconds left in the game, the Panthers escaped another overtime. What hurts the most about this loss other than it ended the season?

-I LOVED the movie the Magnificent Seven, but this??  -As it’s been floated, FSU, Clemson, Miami, UNC, NC State, UVA and Va Tech are exploring a breakaway from the ACC, which would effectively dissolve the league. -Just exactly how many of those schools bring enough value to the SEC or B1G to convince them to offer a soft landing?   -We get hyper focused on things like “pay for play”, the transfer portal run amok, the scourge of NIL….but, as I’ve been saying for a looooooong tiiiiiiiime… The single biggest threat to college sports is.... -All of these conferences are too big.... What?? -Just because Kentucky has $80 million coming it’s way doesn’t mean FSU can’t make ends meet with $40 million. -What the league needs is some forward thinking to tap into more revenue streams – AND to be better at football.

Adam still believes that Denver is the better team, but are we on the path to Game 7? If THIS happens, Nata believes this can be over in 6. And is this guy ever going to live this down?? How are they trying to mask the absence of Chris Paul? Who’s the only player Adam thinks is as good as Booker? If Anthony Davis is going to play like THIS, then we’re in for something special. Why Does Mike believe this could be a good thing that the Canes lost Game 3? What were his thoughts on the game and how things played out in NJ? Looking at Carolina’s offense, they did everything they should’ve done, but here’s where the issues came… Why were the Devils 49 points better this year than last year, which showed up last night? Game one of the Second Round of the Stanley Cup playoffs between the New Jersey Devils and the Carolina Hurricanes begins tonight at PNC Arena. E.J. On Wednesday, the state of North Carolina became the 28th state association in the United States to pass a policy allowing high school athletes to profit off their name, image, and likeness. The NCHSAA Board of Directors held a vote to approve the policy for more than 180,000 student-athletes at NCHSAA member schools. Nick Stevens, manager editor of High School OT joined Adam to discuss the significance of this policy passing, and what it means for high school sports in North Carolina next season.

Jeremy Roach declares for the draft, but he’ll be returning… -13.6 points, 34.3% 3fg, 6’2” leader -smart to find out… -Even mentions getting the feedback and experience from the process… -Kyle Filipowski took to Twitter to lament missing his window for an announcement… Masters -They managed to get through 2 inches of rain, unseasonably cool temperatures and a back-logged schedule to complete the Masters on time. -And, because sometimes it works out this way, the Masters delivered a champion that is one of the current giants in the game. -Jon Rahm is the number 1 player in the world – again – after a final round 3-under par 69 delivered his second major and another one in comeback fashion. -He came from 3 off the lead to win the 2021 US Open at Torrey Pines. -I definitely did not see Brooks Koepka going 24 holes without a birdie after getting to 13-under par on the front 9 of his 3rd round. -There are a lot of great players in golf, a lot of players major championship worthy, but when you get one of the unquestioned stars as a champ it just validates everything. -Matthew Fitzpatrick was a worthy, deserving US Open champ last year.  Cam Smith at the Open, but Rahm winning is just different. The elephant in the room conversation that was never had during the event was LIV vs…   -The Masters does not want… -So, what was commonly thought to be a big deal prior to the tournament starting turned out to be nothing.  No one fed the fire for it. -Only Cam Smith from LIV did a pre-tournament presser – correct, not even Phil. -Greg Norman was not invited.   Amanda Brenner was hardly featured….because there were zero post round interviews until the tournament was over and then she only talked with Koepka. -This bothered people especially in light of Mickelson’s final round 65 on Sunday to finish solo 2nd.  But, what the Masters wants the Masters gets… -Masters controls EVERYTHING.  Delay the azaleas blooming.  They make their own rules. -Koepka wore no logos   Golf writer on twitter said that LIV performance (3 players in top 5 positions) make LIV’s argument for OWGR points stronger. -No it doesn’t.   -There is NO DEBATE at all as to whether or not LIV Golf has good players, and even a handful of GREAT players. -DJ, Brooks, Smith, etc…those guys are top 15 guys in the game. -LIV should get points based on their tour….which should get points anyway.  What is standing in their way is the structure of the tour.   Canes lose again in Buffalo.  Fans melt. -109 points, still second best in the league -Ottawa, Detroit and Florida.  4 points to wrap.   OBJ to Baltimore… -$15 million to a player who has played in 53 of 98 games the last 6 years. -turns 31, 2 months into the season -Could argue that the Ravens are simply buying a trade piece, because if they’re not doing a deal with Lamar Jackson then why?   NBA Playoffs set… -you could literally pick the west out of a hat  

What does Adam not blame Lamar for doing, but the Ravens aren’t willing to go along with? Is Lamar better off being a free agent? Why aren’t there more guaranteed contracts in the NFL? If the NFL was willing to do THIS, then we could see more of THIS… And Will put out a mock draft, so why does he have Young going to the Carolina Panthers when others have Stroud going there?

First Lady wants Iowa at the White House, too. Jalen Carter only working out for top 10 teams U-Conn’s 5th title   It was one of the most dominating NCAA Tournament performances ever… -.U-Conn flicked away San Diego State 76-59 last night in a game that was decided in the middle of the first half.  Huskies win 5th title since 1999, most in that 24 year span…(UNC, 3; Duke, 3: Fla, 2: Kansas, 2; Villanova, 2; B1G, 1). -Aztecs made their first 3 shots and 4 of their first 5. -Scoreless for 6:10, smattering of free throws here and there. -Lamar Butler’s 3 at 3:51 was the first field goal in 12:43! -It was only the SDSU defense that allowed them any hope by halftime.   -Connecticut won this game on the defensive end.  At least that’s what happened in the 1st half.  SDSU could not score over Adama Sonogo, Donovan Clingan or Alex Caraban. -Worth noting….Tristen Newton was a 3-year player at ECU before transferring to U-Conn…. -Naheim Alleyene played at VT before moving to U-Conn…   -They haven’t been as consistent as the others in that category, but….5 for 5 in title games and 5 wins in 9 trips to the second weekend…they have made the most of their chances. So, the first lady, Jill Biden said something after the LSU win over Iowa that I am not at all a fan of… -LSU is going to the White House – at least they’ll be invited to go. -The First Lady, however wants Iowa to also come to the white house – and I’m not sure why. -Caitlin Clark is great.  She was probably the best player in March regardless of gender. -But, White House trips are for championship teams (participation trophy?) -Kinda like when the Colts hung a banner at Lucas Oil field for making the AFC Championship Game.  Remember “AFC Finalist”. Canes host the Senators tonight at PNC Arena with a chance to potentially all but end the Metropolitan Division race… -Devils host the Penguins

(Which sounds so Coach K like) Who is still considered one of the greatest guards of all time? Adam is not surprised at this non-pairing for the Masters, so is John too? What does John bring up about the “Green Jackets”? How is this not like a regular PGA Tour event?

What are his thoughts on Danny Hurly, not only on what he’s done by how he’s been as a coach? Jay understands what it’s like to be in a big game like the NCAA Tournament, so has he had similar experiences? What’s Grant’s expectation of the pitch clock and how it may change the game? What did he see during spring training that might be an indicator? How is the Braves lineup looking, now that guys are back and healthy? Which pitcher is EVERYONE pulling for? The two challengers: Mets and Phillies, who scares him more?

Who is someone who’s raising a lot of eyebrows? Is Jalen Carter the football player, good enough? If this player was any better at any other position, instead of running back, he would be drafted higher. Who’s the best corner in the draft? What about offensively?

Are teams/owners hiding behind something else other than what we’re talking about? Is there any team Trey thinks will sign this contract? What does Trey find really interesting? Is Aaron Rodgers still the QB to take a team to the Super Bowl? Trey looks at it this way… he might be Top 5 for this category, but what about THIS one? How does he see Russel Wilson with Sean Peyton?

What’s the difference between a football coach and a football player? What do conferences need to be doing? Does Jack Swarbrick want FEWER conference games? Why are they trying to pigeon hole teams like this? It’s been a bad year in the ACC, so why should we pretend otherwise? Are we just being intellectually dishonest?

NC Central Men's Basketball Coach LeVelle Moton shared his thoughts and feelings on HBCU coaches not getting viewed at for potential job openings at larger universities. Also, NC State Women's Basketball Coach Wes Moore gave an assessment of his team's season, and shares his thoughts on the Women's Final Four. 

Duke basketball guard Tyrese Proctor announced that he'll be returning for his sophomore season with the Blue Devils. Brendan Marks of The Athletic shares who he thinks could possibly return, including Kyle Filipowski and Jeremy Roach. Marks also wonders who could leave for the NBA, such as Dariq Whitehead and Derek Lively. UNC basketball has seen several players enter the transfer portal, but Armando Bacot & RJ Davis coming back. Brendan Marks of The Athletic says the biggest question going forward is if guard Caleb Love returns, and if it's best for head coach Hubert Davis to truly build his roster his own way.

Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports provided a break down of CJ Stroud of Ohio State football, Bryce Young of Alabama football, and Will Levis of Kentucky football after each has their respective Pro Days last week. Wilson weighed in on who the Carolina Panthers like for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and who he thinks the best QB will be in the class. Plus, Steve Kirschner of UNC Athletics joined the show to discuss former UNC basketball star Eric Montross, who was diagnosed recently with cancer. 

The Final Four is set, and Adam Gold discusses how Miami basketball is the only team that he had making the Final Four. Plus, he discusses if another ACC making the Final Four means that ACC basketball will get the respect it deserves.

Why is Carolina a perfect place for CJ Stroud? What does he like about CJ Stroud? People knock on Stroud for not running enough, so why are they wrong? Who does Cameron like more for the Carolina Panthers, Stroud or Young?

They did clinch a playoff spot , even though they still have a lot to play for. What needs to happen for them to feel more comfortable, even with the loss? Could this come down to the last game?
