Prayer is not right, but the last thing in. It was one of the other side of brokenness is a real intimacy with God and a dependence on him, but you cannot get any other way will have enough encouraging books yet one that will grab you by the throat and get her attention. Replace send me another one. Instead of saying God will do what I want to do for you reside on a blank contract basically whatever whenever, however not available to you whatever you want to do.

My life is yours to send or you can call 800-922-1888 Romans chapter 2 the message with when I first saw the sign showing you. I was shocked by the thought of very on five I'm walking down the street in a town called Chris Qaddafi Turkey on the way to Ephesus.

I see this time so I go I have to go inside.

Someone outside and I bought this watch America right now it's fake but I swear I just want to see if these things actually work. It's been eight years and this watch still keep pretty good time. I happen to be with a guy who had the real version of this watch, I bet he had on his rest we walked in the other set out that looks identical. I bought it I he took his watch off.

I'm holding both of them looking at it. Comparing the weight. Looking at all the markings look identical but I handed his back to them or did I bother him ever since. Dave you think that's really your watch as they look so identical, so the process by which these things are made is called reverse engineering and reverse engineering is the process of deconstructing a device or system could be a computer system to analyze the design and function of it reverse engineering does not start with an idea about something you want or need it. It begins with the finished product and then works backwards. It's a helpful process for companies to look at things they make components that go into those items to figure out they can make better, quicker, etc. but reverse engineering is also how companies steal ideas from other companies and copy them making their own version is a classic example World War II was started in 1939 when the Germans invaded Poland called the blitzkrieg. When that happened. The Russians knew that they needed reconnaissance and defensive mobility so they stole a couple of German motorcycles 1930s BMW R 71 motorcycles rip first engineered it and made a motorcycle. The looks virtually identical to it. Called the euro motorcycle still in production today different iteration of it, but all started on reverse engineering something a little more sobering is what happened in June when one of our drones was shot down by Iran over the straight of Hormuz or out by the Persian Gulf. It was in our queue for a global Hawk surveillance vehicle.

This thing cost the American government. $220 million to make one of them was shot down. The fear is that Iran has been and is using it to reverse engineer it to make their own for not good reasons in the future. While right in the middle. All about us to set up for what I meant to share with you today. Right in the middle of this section of Romans chapters 9, 10 and 11, Paul takes the concept of salvation and reverse engineers that he kind of expands all the different components of it so. In deconstructing it and breaking down the process. He shows how salvation works how a person becomes a saved person, whether they are Jew or Gentile.

Let's look at our text when I can look at all of chapter 10, but a few of the verses, verse one).

My heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved if you mind Skip down to verse nine that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes in the righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Granted verse 13 for whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed how shall they believe in him whom they have not heard how shall they hear without a preacher, how shall they preach unless they are sent.

As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things, but they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says Lord, who has believed our report. So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God in that section that we just read. We have seven stages of salvation it salvation expanded deconstructed so we can see each part. The first four things in the tenure worship folder.

You can see in the first four items are things believers do as we transmit the message to other people caring praying going and speaking. That's what we do with unbelievers. The last three components are what unbelievers do as they become believers. Those of the transmitters and that is hearing believing and calling Melanie begin by saying something foundational when it comes to salvation it. Salvation is a work of God. It's an act of God, of God and save you. Good luck to be safe God sovereignly. We've Artie noted predestines elects and calls. We seen that in Romans the summary verse Romans chapter 8 verse 30. The rates moreover whom he predestined, these he also called whom he called these he also justified, in whom he justified, these he also glorified.

It's a it's a divine work. But at the same time.

It is also a human work meeting people become instruments that the sovereign God uses to affect his work. That means then that evangelism is the intersection between divine predestination and human volition. It's a cooperation between people and God between heaven and earth. Have you ever thought of it from a purely human vantage point about evangelism and salvation.

God is confined himself to using people to reach other people that sound like a very iffy proposition. I mean, it sounds like were saying were all God's got and apart from the sovereignty of God. That's the truth. If we don't tell the next generation, the next generation will not hear but God is sovereign God does the electing the predestination, the calling, the saving, but he uses people to do it.

Some people are gifted in evangelism there very effective at it, but everyone's call to it. Everyone is called at some point to share their faith with others and some people may not have the gift of a public preaching and speaking but they beat could be very creative and eventually give an example. Years ago I knew this gal when I lived in Orange County, California. She had one great skill set. She was an expert billiards player. She was a pool shark.

She could be entries at a professional level could be just about anybody.

She was saved out of that scene, she became a Christian, very on fire. She did know how to use her. Her skill to reach people for Christ or she was very creative and what she did.

She was a cute gal. She would go to the bars in Orange County hang out and inevitably a guy with notice or say can I buy a drink in this standard stupid line baby can abide a drink and she said say what, let's play a game of billiards this play a game of pool. If you win, you can buy me a drink if I win, you have to listen to what I have to say. And they always fall for the docility that she'd always went and she use that to sit them down and share the gospel. Now let's examine these stages that lead to salvation, caring, praying, going speaking, hearing, believing and calling. First of all, caring verse one Romans 10 brethren, here is my hearts desire. Notice that my hearts desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.

Paul is carrying something deep and burdensome in his heart. You member. He mentioned that in chapter 9. If you don't mind go back one chapter to chapter 9 verse one.

I tell the truth in Christ. I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart for I could wish that I myself or a curse from Christ for my brother and my countrymen according to the flesh. Do you know that it's possible to have great joy in your heart and sorrow in her heart. At the same time. If you have an unbelieving family member, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

You have the joy of the Lord to get you through the day, but you carry that burden of that one or two were many people that you have and love in your life that don't know the Savior that you have. So Paul goes in chapter 8 from the pinnacle of joy to chapter 9 the pit of sorrow chapter 8.

It's nothing can separate us from the love of God were more than conquerors through. I have great sorrow in my heart. So that's where evangelism always begins begins with caring II have my hearts desire is that Israel might be. Say that's where begins evangelism always starts with your caring for the lost because the truth is, if you don't care. You won't share. It's only when you do care that you feel the need to share your faith with others as happened with Jesus. Matthew chapter 9 is a Jesus saw the multitudes, he saw the crowds, and it doesn't say he saw the multitudes. If it fits it skips the multitude of might say he was annoyed by the crowds and the traffic, but this is when Jesus saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them because they were weary and scattered like sheep having no shepherd. Very interesting word in the Greek for compassion. It's the Greek word Spohn commit so my and it literally means that got the intestines because the Hebrews believed that the deepest most intense emotions were felt in the pit of one stomach so Jesus saw the crowd noticed the multitude and he cared deeply about what he saw. He also agonized over Israel like Paul does here as he approached the city of Jerusalem, coming down the Mount of olives. He didn't stop and go pool view either get my camera get a picture. This is Jesus wept when he saw the city and he said all of Jerusalem. Jerusalem, how often I would've gathered you together as a mother hen gathers her chicks but you were not willing that's caring.

That's compassion you can know a lot you can memorize the four spiritual laws memorize verses of Scripture have your strategy and arguments carefully crafted in your mind, but you've heard it said before, people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. So for you to reach that office worker or that family member or that client you need to see them as more than a client or an account, but the soul and eternal soul so that's the first stage caring. The second stages, praying that's also verse one brother and my hearts desire and was the word prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved now to go some the heart to the knees. He cares, he prays I want to go back again if you don't mind to chapter 9. I know I had to do that in a moment, but it's just a page so it's not hard work. Romans nine verse want to tell the truth in Christ. I'm not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit. I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart I want you to see really what the heart of this prayer is for I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brother and my countrymen according to the flesh. Can you imagine someone who is come to know Jesus Christ and all that that salvation entails willing to be lost forever. If it means somebody that I love coming to know Christ refers only to say when Paul was writing this, he's not writing theologically he's writing emotionally. He knows nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ, he just said that it is and if it were possible that me being cut off would bring them in.

That's how much sorrow I have is so much I love now this reminds us of somebody else who prayed very similarly named Moses member Moses in the Old Testament comes out of the 10 Commandments, the law children of Israel are gathered around the golden calf that they made me touch on that last week there partying it up degrees Moses heart begins to pray because God says I'm in a white them out to destroy them and start all over with you. Moses would like to prayer and he said, Lord, if you will but forgive their sin, but if not, I pray, blot me out of your book which you have written same prayer, same idea Paul is taking his cues off of Moses. How many times we look around our country, our city, our state command were in bad shape that America needs a revival. When is the last time you pray for revival was a time you ask God on behalf of your city or state. Your country because the Bible says you have not because you ask not.

And yes, God is sovereign and yes, God sovereignly elects and chooses and predestines and saves, but he does respond mystically, mysteriously, to our prayers and James used a very common but very powerful man from the Old Testament to prove that point named Elijah that Elijah was a man just like you and I but he prayed and God responded by shutting up to heaven, so it didn't rain for 3 1/2 years.

Then he prayed again and arraigned on the land and James concluded by saying the fervent, effective prayer of a righteous man avails much. After sharing, we should then be moved to praying always love the story about the church that bought a brand-new organ for its worship services. It was a traditional church we would buy an electric guitar by an organ electric guitars a lot cheaper than organs. Trust they say about this organ for Sunday morning. The ready to go. Musicians behind the organ pushes the keys nothing dead silence. Nothing happens. Custodian sees the problem from afar. The organ was not plugged into the wall socket, so he needs to get a message to the musician that after the invocation is given help plug in and do so somebody whispered in his ear after the prayer, the power will be on think of that statement.

After the prayer, the power will be on after your prayer, the power will be on Jesus said to his disciples when he was moved with compassion for them. He said the harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into the harvest. So here's the deal. Always do more than pray after you prayed, but you can never do more than pray until someone people will say after a catastrophe.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you is very appropriate because it begins by carrying then praying and then there's more steps, but before we get to those steps. Let me give you some homework. If I can if you don't mind him and ask you to do something this week and exercise may be done before maybe. If not, that is sometime during the week I sit somewhere where there's a crowd and just people watch watch people go to the mall for a soccer game or theater or the airport where there's a lot of people to sit on his watch and then as you wash let this thought sink in every person you see either has a relationship with Jesus Christ and will live forever with him or does not have a relationship with Christ and will live forever. Apart from him. Let that to sink in. And is it sinks in his can motivate you to take another step in that is pray for them. This church started when I first came here, I went up to the foothills and I looked over the city lights.

Sometimes I grab a buddy and I just be. I didn't know much about the city but just began to pray for God to do the work in the city so carrying then gets moved into praying. Let me give you a warning when you pray for the lost.

You may be surprised by the answer. When you pray for the loss you might be surprised by the answer, here's what I meant in Matthew nine Jesus tells his disciples he sees the crowd pray for the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers of the harvest is Matthew nine in Matthew chapter 10 Jesus answers their prayer by sending them with a message from the series now you Skip Gilenya to share how you can effectively share your faith with love today attack that had carrying is a vital aspect that you know a lot more than often it is the missing part as people are doing evangelizing that what is it practically look like that we show caring and love as a part of sharing the cost I would say most people, when you talk to them are thinking about themselves. What I mean by that is that there wondering when you have a conversation with somebody relating to somebody specially in a friendship situation. They are wondering how you are perceiving them at the moment. So when you actually not necessary feed into the flesh, but when you show them that you also are thinking about them that you care about them. It opens their heart because they kind of expect you to be like them and think about your self or that there think about themselves. So when you actually taken interest in them and and follow-up questions, especially that helps you know there's an old saying that if you want to win some you win some soap out a win. Some witness a winsome personality showing that you care being encouraging. I think about Jesus with the woman at the well or Jesus with Nicodemus or a Mary Magdalene. You know in those conversations he took interest in their life situations and by so doing opened up their hearts.

You want to engage with the person and really know what's going on with them and and have conversation and then also you know just acts of kindness seen at the good Samaritan where you're really doing something that accept what you're saying. Thanks, Kevin Lanyon, the Bible tells us all about cats a radical (and we want to take his word to more listeners like you some more people can fall even more in life at the Savior helped keep the teachings he left from skin care and online by giving a gift right now just pick up your phone and call hundred 90 to 1892 or Thank you.
