This is the Truth Network treasurers of the song of songs, which is get to finish third chapter, which is just 11 short versus the journey that we've been on. And wow, it sure ends with a bang as I'm sure you can see today's the 11th verse in the third chapter the song of Solomon in English reads Goforth O ye daughters of Zion, and behold King Solomon with the crown wherewith his mother crowned him on the day of his espousal and in the day of the gladness of his heart, so wow there's a lot of ways you can interpret this in the course the question that just kind of jumps out. First is how did we go from the daughters of Jerusalem to the daughters of Zion, and then you know the other question that just gonna jumps out at you is who's the mother that crowned him you know who assisted crowned him with the crown that of the day of his espousal so you know, as we dig into this this idea of Zion. That word in Hebrew has to do with a marker or mark and so when you look at that, you know, a monument of sorts. And so when you look at that from Rashi's perspective, the way he interprets this verse is that in his beautiful that the daughters of Zion are those that are marked with the covenant of circumcision so that you know that's kind of a picture of who you know is the chosen children. You know, and Zion being, you know, the idea of them being marked and then when it comes to the idea of the mother. You know he does a beautiful job of explaining that you know this has a lot to do with three different ideas that he explains in Psalm 45, which is clearly clearly that will and of the wedding Psalm and there you know he makes reference to a daughter and then he goes on to talk about in chapter 5 of the song of Solomon in verse two he talks about his sister again another relationship with a female and then he moves on to Isaiah 51 four where it says hearken to me, my people, my nation and and where it says that when you look at that word in the knee goes on to explain that my people are my nation is related to your mother because the root word of nation is mother and when you think about that from the standpoint of like oh this is interesting that when you if you're like me and you've got step brothers and sisters.
The children of my mother are truly my people more so than the.
The steps brothers and sisters of either of my parents because the ones that are of my father and my mother are truly my people, so to speak. And so when you think about this and try to put it all together. I think it's beautiful that Rashi's explaining that you know you go with this relationship that God has from his sisters and his beloved and his mother and all these women that are his people, and Rashi goes on to explain that the crown is literally the tent of meeting because it's crowned with all these different beautiful colors and so that's you know that's clearly the allegory of what's going on there. But what's really going on here is really spectacular when you think about it. Matthew Henry. He quotes you know what was said in John 19 when Pilate said, behold, your King and he was dressed in purple and he had on him a crown of thorns and who put the crown of thorns on him, but his own people.
It was his own people that put that crown of thorns on him and when you think about that crown of thorns being on him and then you look at the end of the verse when it says in the day of his espousal in the gladness of his heart.
Yes, it was the day that he died for his church with Kate and then it was the day of his gladness of heart because he knew what he was going to do for you and for me and it's pretty easy to get mad at the people of Jerusalem. Those daughters of Zion.
But when you think about it, that's really in my case every single day. Undoubtedly, I am put that crown of thorns on his head every time I don't do what he says in him is beautiful. What Jesus said, you know, in Matthew 1248 Jesus said, but he answered and said in the him that told him who is my mother and who are my brethren and you think about what he saying there, who is my mother and who are my brethren and at the end of that chapter. He says in verse 54 whosoever shall do the will of my father which is in heaven. The same is my brother and sister and mother at South.
Both are his people and wow if will do his will and will were not having the crown of thorns put back on him. You know, so is the idea of this verse as we get know passed this idea of rest that we had in our heart and how beautiful is all that but now you know God is asking us to come out and take a look at how we got this place of rest in her heart, look what the magnificence of the Jesus did and how can we be more sensitive as I think about this. You know it's just a call to realize that, wow.
As I go through my day of from from listening to the will of my father then then I am Jesus's people in all that is that is really truly being his sister, his bride's mother know his brother is all those things you know apply because we are family but you know it's a beautiful thing. It really is to me that here's an opportunity for us to really reflect in any normal be honest a bit as the day goes through it so simple that I'll get a call from somebody I really don't want to talk to and lick my phone I got on the top. You know that you can hear the Holy Spirit kinda kind of tugging on you and sometimes honestly I go ahead and put the crown of thorns on his head or you know I beginning this thought process of of how great this is going to be for me in this situation and how good on the look in my bride just takes over again. I'm putting the crown on Jesus and said it in and what a wonderful thing it is that he's helping me, minute by minute to to overcome all these amazing evil desires. I don't know a better way to put it that I that I face every single day. I'm sure you do as well and so I think it's absently spectacular. This verse when you look at it in this context and will just say it again because I think that I'm disk revel in it for a long time. Goforth, O ye daughters of Zion, and behold King Solomon with a crown where with his mother, crown him in the day of his espousal's in the day of the gladness of his heart and and so if I can just get a grip on putting the crown that he deserves to have in the book of Revelation that the wedding supper.
It's going to be absolutely spectacular. All the crowns that all get to go on him because he crown and with many crowns good crown not the crown that we have a tendency to to put on. Help us Lord to be the daughters of Zion to truly be your mother to truly be your brother and your sister. We ask this in Jesus name, amen
