The following program is recorded content created by the Truth Network mobile show you why you work. Steve is an ordinary man who believes in an extraordinary dog on his shoulders and walk through no sacred call Steve Bell at 86 34 true 866-34-TRUTH or checking out online, Steve Noble Joe.com now here's your host Steve Noble Michelle Woodhouse and asked that I not know Bob, I am the incredible honor the city and for Steve today in the studio all the Star Wars memorabilia and but I'm not Steve Noble, and I don't know much about Star Wars and but I do hopefully bring the cool hair and cool glasses of Steve Noble to the radio show today. I'm so excited to be with you for this hour, we got quite a lineup organa have Grande with us who was present Ronald Reagan's executive assistant for a decade has incredible blog called the Pres. will see you now. She's an author and speaker, and strong conservative Christian woman were really excited to have Peggy joining us in the first segment number going to talk to senior political correspondent from the Washington Examiner David Drucker. David has a new book out called in Trump shadowed the battle for 2024 and the future of the GOP which we much of what we talk about during the show today and close out with one of my dear friends in a regular guest on the show.
Former Congressman Mark Walker and he has a new bus with a new wrap and maybe we'll get Congressman Walker to do a little rapping for us what he think I think that would be fantastic and he can share with us really what he's doing across the state of North Carolina now so were excited for the show and I am just honestly thrilled, thrilled to be here and much of it were to talk about today is on really state and the future of the party. I know that so much of what Steve talks about in this room is really our call as Christian warriors to be spreading the gospel working for Jesus in all that we do. And as we look at our country right now it doesn't take much time to realize that we really are to precipice and it is time for evangelicals to really dig in time for us to pray and lead and serve Enron. I've been on the show a few times with Stephen to see the little background on me I was the district chair for the Republican Party out the mountains in the 11th Congressional District and ran for Congress in the most recent primary in May and while that race for us.
We didn't win the race. We we really felt like it was our Queen Esther moment. It was a time and hopefully all political candidates whether they won or lost in their primary really seen that opportunity is a time to channel their Queen Esther a time to be called to serve and we all have opportunities to step in and serve and and this is really what what were faced with right now and it isn't part of the reason we want to have Peggy on the show and I can't wait to really talk to her about her time with Pres. Reagan is looking at that sitting on the hill and for those of us were old enough to remember when Pres. Reagan ran our country was sitting in much the same place.
It is right now.
When Jimmy Carter was president and record high inflation, international instability, domestic problems and Ronald Reagan never talked about the malaise didn't talk about the difficulties that Americans were facing. He gave incredible hope and that is what I think were looking for right now from our elected officials what were looking for from our church leaders as since I was last in the studio with Steve. We had the Roe V Wade decision from the Supreme Court, which is so incredible for our country and so incredible for our future, and this is a time when we have to's we have to dig down and find that hope and inspiration that will lead each of us to do what we can, because it is a time of of challenge and darkness out there, but we each have been called for such a time as this.
And this is our time as evangelicals because as we look into 2022 and onto 2024 evangelicals will be a voting block that has tremendous influence, if not the most important influence in the outcome of our elections both at the state local level and nationally. This is not a time for us to stay home and I when we look at coming out of a primary it was probably one of the most challenging primaries I've ever experienced. Maybe that's because I was smack dab in the middle of it, but what we did see in that primary was a lot of division and it's hard to come out of those battles and get refocused on what needs to happen and what needs to happen is we need to make sure as strong conservative Christians that we are electing those of like mind to serve us, and that is from your most local level city Council County Commissioner school board all the way to Washington DC and it's important for us to really look at the quality of candidates that were putting forward to make sure that we have elected officials. Organa stand firmly on the word and they are going to do the things that we want them to do when we put them into office. I wanted the greatest gifts I was status as a candidate that anyone could give you is there vote. It is the most incredible gift that anyone can give you and and it is an incredible honor and each and every one of those votes is so critically important and and I hope our elected officials really really are listening to their constituents and recognizing how important it is to hear what we we are saying and what we are saying is we want you to step in and be strong and be bold and because they have been called for such a time as this, and we need boldness and I will tell you every day I get up at night. I look at the news and turn on Fox's many people do in read my digital newspapers.
Quite a few of them and and really try to dig into what's happening and and pray over leaders and ever.
Today was no different than many days where I wake up and say thank you Lord for Joe mansion because in Washington DC he is the man right now who is standing between the progressives destroying our country and that the true American dream. So were were grateful for him and even for those that you don't agree with politically. Hope you are taking the time to really pray for them and pray over them because that is what we are called to do and and some are easier than others. Let's face it, you have is when I called to like them. I guess and think in us that that wasn't put in the Bible so we yeah out working to keep fighting and get ready, this is Michelle Woodhouse filling in for Steve Noble on a great Friday ad. Get ready, we organa move into our next segment and talk a little bit more about that city on the hill that were looking to create really looking forward to getting started again. Michelle Woodhouse going in no this is Michelle Woodhouse I'm filling in for Steve Noble today Friday and so excited to be here really looking forward to bringing on our first gas Peggy Grande as she serves the executive assistant for Pres. Ronald Reagan for over a decade incredible author or speaker commentator and has a great book called the Pres. will see you now and were so excited to add to bring Peggy on the show Peggy either on how well we are so grateful to have you on your well thank you thank you and for full transparency. Peggy is a dear friend of mine and Eddie's and and just such a blessing. So thank you for joining us are in California today all right will good well then I wouldn't have to worry about the times them.
So were so glad that you're here that there were so bad they are here so eat of course we could spend an entire show with you sharing incredible stories about your time with Pres. Reagan but you know what things you been talking about before he came on was he was such an inspiration when he would talk about the city on the hill and as you look at where we are right now as a country we think Ronald Reagan would say to Americans today for having me on you for all you value all only Reagan American work today and there's not enough to wait out here that are echoing the really important thank you for doing your part and that you know I would never pretend to put words into Ronald Reagan felt the great communicator, but I am and I think that that the principles in the heart of the man extended into all of all of us to continue to be doers of the legacy he left Anna, we believe, like you did that we do people tell the government what to do, not the other way around. We the people still are the true holders of power in the nation and need to be boldly and unapologetically exercising that Ronald Reagan had you a way of having strength and obviously without hardness or an edge. You would strong in all he would but he was also warm and charismatic and beautiful Glenn boat and I think that much from his faith and just feeling confident in the fact that got it but him on earth you and if you are doing the same thing. Then we were all equal in God. I had the wonderful way about him. Frank also helped with a beautiful humanity that I got close the 10 years I worked for him. Well that is your when when I listen to that and I think about that warmth and and charisma that he had and it really was about we the people and speaking boldly and he did it in a way that was such an inspiration to anyone who heard him and and going back and she had a great sense of humor did me bringing people around you you with the great (other whether it went, deprecating humor, he would you you make a very important point way of framing things in a way that would all that with magnetic it made people want to follow him. It was that Brett pressure that you agree with and but he painted a picture that shining city on the hill. Thank America's best days are ahead morning in America and the vision of being different and better, that we could all of you and that we were going to do together and out we never felt like he was freaking out down the created infusion that we wanted it out and I don't know about you but I feel like every time he looked through the lens of the camera from the Oval Office the payment of my living room. I thought he was talking just me. We all felt that call to action and we felt like it was collective and we were going to follow him and join him in something that would take up the nation feel better, absolutely absolute, this is Michelle Woodhouse filling in for Steve Noble and I got Peggy Grande on with me's former assistant to Pres. Ronald Reagan and author of the Pres. will see you now. And so Peggy tells a little bit about what you're doing now because I know you are you are boldly working in really spreading the conservative message. Well, I certainly try it again. I Ronald Reagan you good and that I called her and I felt don't let me opportunity you and what happening not only here nationally that internationally on my time is way better, but currently working great work all about document than the people that lived in the White House and provide work financially or maintaining the White House to the median and or that Jackie and Eddie envision back. Thank you. One, I offer you a weekly television show Australia so I'm you a reporter I doubt you could call it for a brilliant beginning of a window into what they hear may not be the whole Orient, but they should be paying you that they may not be seeing a lot of Reagan related places. I did Ronald Reagan anniversary of happening at his alma mater actually earlier today young American foundation socialism Reagan and his lifelong fight against communism. I continue to write and and exercise my voice in my hand and hopefully echo and I be on the messages that Ronald Reagan embedded in it for so many years and you not love of country and in a really genuine respect for each other and in a way that hopefully a strong and unapologetic but also double with everyone the ability and our dialogue, but we need modeling.
My goal and everything absolutely has share with us. When your favorite stories from the book the Pres. will see you now. I would loved to have heard many, but I would love to hear when your favorites well political book. I would be book character of the man I had an opportunity and worked for 10 years and felt that you got that not only what he did, but what really I like. I put on black and in the way that I saw him and so I encourage anybody knowing more about the man you pick up the book because I think it unique you later years of his life. No author. One quick story that I here today because I was speaking at elderly Romanian woman who came in the office one day she had written to the president an opportunity to meet.
She walked into his office. One look at him. She dropped the park, bobbing the and Ronald Reagan reached down and bring her. And here raining down her face. She looked up at him and and very broken English.
She thanked him for freedom and the freedom of our family and freedom of her people and you know I walked the moment I thought of all the people around the world opportunity would have also straight what he did was avoid power for power So one example of many the powers that is so great Peggy, thank you so much for joining us.
People can find your Peggy Grande.com it was so keep up the great bring our second here is my gut hello this is Michelle Woodhouse filling in for Steve Noble today Friday so excited to be here in the studio and we are about to bring on our second SIM so excited to bring my friend David Drucker, Senior political correspondent for the Washington Examiner author of the new book in Trump shadow. The battle for 2024 and the future of the GOP and fellow foodie David Arianna with us. David can hear me. Thank you so much for for joining me again Michelle Woodhouse filling in for Steve Noble on Friday about David Drucker with me Senior political correspondent for the Washington Examiner author of the new book in Trump shadow. The battle for 2024 and the future of the GOP and dad have fellow foodie.
David was in Asheville when I was running for Congress and we had a great meeting and of course I think we spent a good chunk of it beside talking about politics-all the great places to eat in western North Carolina. So thank you for making time to be on the show. Good way.
Having multiple row we have them. Why don't we vary go. I love it yet. It's a very fancy snack. You know that's, that's, you know, you kind of booty over there David that's very very fancy. You know, I think the I have a protein ball in the freezer here in the studio that started to melt my car but I'll only get to it.
I'll get to it later so so were so grateful to have you on it and I just have to say I'm I want to hear so much about the book and really what you think the future of the GOP is going into this battle not only in 24 but even what are we doing in November, 20, 2215 days out from the election.
So tell us about the book in and what you see is the future for the GOP.
It will go right about their water great books out there for years on your figure really would try to look ahead 40 and I really think you are reporting and conclusion I drew rock but I really think you'll Donald Trump represented a generational Ronald Reagan era. All and created new patient voters called Asian guy with the expectations in terms of what kind of leaders. Republicans are looking for what they think can be effective versus what do you think would be effective for primary unfold, it appears as though will be a part of the primary rule hold that most of our lives to show we saw the public is running for president every four years, promising to be the next Ronald Reagan and I think that in 2024 candidates in some form or another, promising to be part due to other Republicans that will run even if you run they will run will try and go a different angle, but don't think the angle was going to be. We need to go back to the way things used to be more. We don't need to fight a war, we need a different position on trade. There are certain things work the bar with the case going to be made is that we need to take the Trump is doing more Bromberg reacted there could be a one of the big glide through the book in the layout represent what part of the party what they've been doing to compare for campaign. Some of the fraternity party battle going on between them a lot about Trump's thinking and how he approached his political campaigns and how you might approach the next one so your 24 hours. One or the other Republicans were to have a very good life.
How good can it be and how good will, absolutely, this is Michelle Woodhouse filling in for Steve Noble today and I got David Drucker on with me Senior political correspondent for the Washington Examiner and author of the new book in Trump shadow. The battle for 2024 and the future of the GOP slip back a little bit about that because you have so many great things to me.
We, there are factions within the Republican Party and I could take coming out of a pretty bloodied primary and myself and have the bit of a bloodied primary here and I North Carolina state why we saw the Senate raise the congressional primaries across the board use.
You really saw those segments within the party and you want things that that I think people are looking at right now is the aberrant have a red wave, but what does that look like right what is what is that how red is that what does that look like, but I also think you I want to hear whether it's Trump's or Ronald Reagan, the shining city on the hill making America great again right now there's just too much messaging.
I think coming out of the party of Joe Biden is a failure and that doesn't inspire the voter to get out so you wouldn't think that message needs to be from from the Republican Party going into 2022 to get voters inspired into give them hope for for the future going into the 2022 races you, you know you right up against the incumbent warned the incumbent party congressional candidate. Again, the incumbent party only to the representative that Pres. you know why your shooters everything about Pres. F4 you'll like him therefore you like the right so good. I mean I don't tell you that you both make a case against the fix things really address problem. I will say election scenario you I am of the belief that you don't have to do as much proactive messaging you do highlighting what people already feel about the incumbent. When we are in an environment like when the incumbent president will 40% job approval, which provided no or on average. And when he is particularly not doing well in the state and when voters are focused on things like inflation, gas prices where they don't feel particular president or you're doing a good job you wanted to get out of the way let's voters go to the poll break with their boys to do go to the polls to register. The only fully and in what their voters are pretty smart about they know one person and one congressional district, or even a Republican when you can't change things overnight and you can't get past the president's veto message that they're unhappy and I think the question is what you Republican and what I found in 12 years or so to get your point about inspiration and pop and having an agenda answer that Democratic and Republican way. We've been misinterpreting by the winners of the big democratic way. All the Democrats try to do everything they ever thought they wanted to do and voters that is not what we wanted. We just wanted let you in Republicans when in a big way trying to everything they ever set out to do, wanted. We just didn't want so much what you doing that your body is in trouble.
Trump and the Republican God the troubled 20 and so it will be interesting to see how health Republican majority in January.
Read the election what they set out to do and whether or not they're willing to work with a Democratic president to do what they can do. Also, what are you going to work with them but what I think wave elections of the parties, we miss read them thinking they have a mandate when all the voters did was go to the poll. Yes, I know, yeah, absolutely yeah you know it's it is it such a anything covering this for so long it really is people saying wait, stop the madness on this side organ give the keys to that side, but we don't want you to drive us off a cliff either so you stay in the lane and and and get good work done. Get good work done for people so I Michelle Woodhouse filling in for Steve Noble on with David Drucker.
David, as we wrap up here with got about 30 seconds. Tell me a little bit what races are you really keeping your eye out across the country.
You will absolutely well. David Drucker, thank you so much for being on the book is called in Trump shadow. The battle for 2020 for the future of the GOP. You can find it@amazon.com. I ordered a copy of it, sending it to you for an autograph and enjoy the heirloom tomatoes and so were really enjoying our first with their great fun. Hello, it's Michelle Woodhouse filling in for Steve Noble on a Friday afternoon and I love that I love that music love little Bob Seeger. I know my parents. I think her are watching on Facebook lie, but my we are native Detroiters and the home of Bob Seeger and my dad many years ago help work security for Seeger when he was still playing bowling alleys and KFC halls a great concert a great show, and adjusted. We left some Bob Seeger said thank you for that. That lead in music again. Michelle Woodhouse filling in for Steve Noble to wrap up the show are final segment with my dear friend Congressman Mark Walker covers marker are you with us, you know, Bob and Roger would prayer one of the great preachers intricately been gone for 17 years but congratulations well, thank you so much and what an honor to fill in for Steve. I just keep reminding people that if there tuning and I'm not Steve Noble. Our hair is a little similar different color, but I'm in a studio full of Star Wars figurines and I don't know anything, anything at all about Star Wars, but what a great way to spend a Friday talking to incredible conservatives and and we get to close up close up the show with you so I this is just for for listeners is to be me and my dear friend Congressman Mark Walker just chatting.
So were so glad that people are tuning in to listen. Thank you so much for always being such an incredible conservative faith warrior what you do for the state for our country is truly inspirational and incredible and many people probably don't know what you do could you do it so gracefully you do it with such humility and dignity and I am just so honored to have you and Kelly, his friends, just so thank you so much and just super honor to have you on and I want to hear about the new bus because you are you have a new wrap and I did tease it out earlier in the show he might do some rapping so no pressure, but tell us about the new bus and the literal and figurative movement that's going on with you. You primary recall anybody looking like one of the barometers for me to call week we knew no right now there was a judicial right, but are crucial to the report were great with 300 Richard the four do we left over and looked over the campaign we started to begin the prospect of ball rapping about getting on the road with people where North Carolina have the Correct Lid Court Ct., Republican, but we just left five to be aware of that. We both want web when the court.com with their work. We are putting money toward you guys we got a great big pastor.
We all were planning a big you did a big bike with minority conservative just coming in like the early October to let doctors work big that is in, when the court.com great critically important critically critically important and I don't know that any of us realize how important the courts were until he got into this redistricting situation and we started to see the impact and the influence on the court said this Michelle Woodhouse I'm filling in for Steve Noble today Friday I got Congressman Mark Walker with me to wrap up the show and and and so comes longer to just what drew you to get to to move into this incredible battle to win the courts and then if you could share little insight into why these races.
These statewide races are so critically important, because you and I both know we often hear people say, why know who I'm gonna vote for for governor, I know women to vote for for Senate.
I know who I want to vote for to be my Congressman but the judicial race is on now I don't know who they are and I think this is where so many voters are unsure of how critically important in these judicial races are so tell us what drew you into it and why it's so critically important to the voter to be engaged in these races you your personal but we arrived in Concord between the lid that the Obama care the ground running. Eric Holder came in and are straight over the congressional line went on for two or three different cycles. Ultimately, the North Carolina Ct. couple of people overwrote the will of the people much like a good idea a few years ago, and withdrawal, congressional district, not not not allowing the people duly elected, he would override a big Constitution you bring Ct. they're going to think. Later in the year, but the risky thing you you don't know how the judiciary will build on the left years what they could get the leg have been able to do so would judicial Court or the Court of Appeals with the print court having a Republican majority OL the people. And voter ID.
We voted overwhelmingly across the state of North Carolina to put that in place and I can tell you in and I know you know this, and anyone who's ever worked.
The polls see Z and is a candidate you see when you're out there working working the polls on early voting in election day. How many people walk in they got their sample ballot one-handed got their driver's license in the other hand, because so many voters assume they need need that ID and we saw having a liberal Supreme Court in the state of North Carolina that they could. They were able to use that judicial branch to erase the will of the people huge moment from your called people of America hard woke you, including judicial and I think this is going to give us a real opportunity and I hope that through voting ballot good right we need to win that you are right with God look important, but we cannot take off the ball, Democrat from having the ability to usurp the will of the people here North Carolina. While we were wanting to get behind the atomic energy resources that will looking forward to the absolutely again Michelle Woodhouse filling in for Steve Noble and I got Congressman Mark Walker on with me today talking about his new new bus new pack and and incredible message around winning the court she can find out more information about it at win. The courts.com and asked for listeners to know were going into the 2022.
November election. I think were hundred and 15 days out from that election and the opportunity to flip the North Carolina Supreme Court we've got.
I know listeners from other states and and the judicial races are critically important whether there and whether they are partisan like we have them here or in other states were there not it so critically important as a voter that you are educated on the judicial races because we have seen happen, both nationally and at the state level is Democrats will use the bench to legislate when they don't get what they want in the statehouse or from their legislators and and this what you're doing.
Congressman Walker so critically important to making sure that we have strong conservatives and I was surely David Drucker before he came on as we talked about his about Pres. Tromp. I really do think in and that Pres. Trump's legacy will be the three Supreme Court justices that he was able to seat during his term because that did shift the power in the US Supreme Court, and it doesn't take long to you for Americans to see how critically important in those three Supreme Court justices are especially when Joe Biden gets gets one on and she can't tell us what a woman is agree with you. Remember the year you your lot longer term. You are not quite so important to get this right to make sure that we are getting out there like you and we get six great candidates that are running and you can find work but you get the bio formation you get the bio on exactly who's running the print court or judge their on that website with the court. That's fantastic. So what we've been talking about today and I'm to ask your thoughts and opinions. He spent so much time in Washington DC serving the people of the United States serving your congressional districts here in North Carolina and we had an opportunity to start the session talking to Peggy Grande who was Ronald Reagan's executive assistant for a decade about that shining city on the hill so cumbersome Walker will what we say to people right now where feeling so broken, who are feeling so concerned about the state of our country. The failures the Biden administration. What are some words of inspiration that you would get more absolutely, thank you so much for being with me.
Thank you for the fight that you continue to fight. Thank you for your safe lock you're such an inspiration to me.
Congressman Mark Walker.
The website is when the courts.com six critical races on our North Carolina ballot in November hundred 15 days until election day.
It's hard to believe in and it's absolutely keeping our eye on the Lord and knowing that as Christians we are called to make sure that we are voting. Voting the will of the Lord in another program powered by the Truth Network
